In March 2011 Eurosib-Terminal-Novosibirsk set a record in container handling. Container turnover made 4,580 units, which is a two-fold growth against the result of the previous two months. February and January volumes were correspondingly 2023 and 2485 units.
Such increased handling is the result of the efforts of the terminal commerce service as well as the infrastructure development of the terminal in 2010. Anticipating this growth, Eurosib upgraded the equipment serving the terminal. In 2011 the company acquired Kalmar reachstacker, which will be delivered to the terminal in May this year. Reachstacker will be handling empty containers serving two railway tracks simultaneously.
At the moment, at the Novosibirsk terminal Eurosib already has two reachstackers. The acquisition of the third machine will increase the speed of container handling; ensure a reserve of stability essential in the harsh Siberian climate.
Today Eurosib-Terminal-Novosibirsk is one of the largest logistics facilities in Siberia. The capacity of the terminal is 50 thousand TEU per year. In order to ensure proper service for the growing containers flow Eurosib in 2010 to increase the length of the front rail of up to 6 km, and expanded container storage capacity to 3 thousand TEU. The terminal is developed as a basis for container block trains service connecting the shippers and consumers in Siberia with the ports of the Russian Far East, North West, and Central Russia and Moscow region.
